Charlotte Digital Inclusion Volunteer

1. What are you doing towards Digital Inclusion in Charlotte?

Since joining Digital Charlotte I’ve helped with a laptop distribution at a local high school and have helped teach about four 1-4 class sessions with different community groups. They have been mostly teaching basic computer and internet skills to minority senior citizens.

2. Why are you working towards Digital Inclusion in Charlotte?

I was at a stage in my life where I was no longer working myself and looking to get back in to volunteering in the community. I used to do Computer training for a national company and had been running my own web design business. When I heard about Digital Charlotte on social media it seemed like the perfect fit for me. I’ve always felt that it’s important to give back to your community and love when I can match my particular strengths with a need in the community.

3. What does a digitally connected community look like to you?

A digitally connected community to me is one where every one of all ages and economic levels have equal access to the internet and have the skills to use it to better their lives.
