***THE SIGN-UP PERIOD FOR THIS YEARS TEACHING ACADEMY IS CLOSED***

Who:

Any current K-12th grade teacher or administrator in Mecklenburg, Union, Gaston, Lincoln, and Cabarrus County

Participant Incentive:

A $150 gift card will be provided to all participants who are accepted into the workshop and complete the basic requirements.

What:

Online teaching and learning is no longer an option. It has been and will likely become an even more integral part of the teaching and learning process. Given the recent online experiences of teachers (K-12) throughout North Carolina, our teaching academy in June will be an opportunity to explore the recent online teaching experiences (from Spring 2020) and digital literacy skills of teachers and administrators in ways that encourage discussion, deliberation, and reflection.

Why:

Goal: Better understand the teaching and learning experiences, challenges, and opportunities recently experienced by teachers (Spring 2020) through virtual conversation groups. After an analysis of conversation data, we will create evidence-informed online teaching and learning literacy programming that:
  • Addresses specific digital skills and literacy needs of teachers/administrators.
  • Prepares teachers to more fully leverage online learning practices/approaches in ways that enhances student learning and classroom community.
  • Encourages pedagogical reflection regarding different modalities of teaching and learning.
