1. What are you doing towards Digital Inclusion in Charlotte?

I serve on the Charlotte Digital Inclusion Steering Team. I am a liaison to projects happening within Mecklenburg County Departments and I volunteer my time with EveryoneOn and Neighborhood and Business Services.

Additionally, I am trained in digital and media literacy and have led workshops on navigating Facebook and Twitter and for making technology easier for Senior Citizens in the past.

2. Why are you working towards Digital Inclusion in Charlotte?

I am a communicator at heart and by trade. Modern should cities provide equitable communication for all of their residents. But awareness means nothing without opportunity. I am working towards digital inclusion in Charlotte because I grew up here and I know that making people aware is just the first step. Equipping people with the tools they need to take advantage of communication opportunities; whether that be a job application, a social media post or doing homework, is the other half.

3. What does a digitally connected community look like to you?

A digitally connected community means a person has reliable internet access to keep up with the communication of today’s world. It looks like a safety net- a reassurance that all people will have equitable access to the information they need to participate in today’s world.
