In this tutorial, you will learn:
• What SIRI is and how to access it on the iPhone
Performing everyday tasks on your mobile device such as sending a text message or making a phone call helps you keep in touch with family members and friends. The built-in SIRI software makes these tasks easier.
SIRI stands for Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface. In other words, SIRI is a personal assistant for the iPhone user that uses speech-to-text technology to perform tasks, saving both time and effort. SIRI is built in to the device and is available for the iPhone 4s and later models.
What Can SIRI Do?
SIRI has the capability to do many things. Some of these include sending and replying to text messages, making or returning a phone call, scheduling a reminder for important meetings or errands, or simply using Google to search to find the answer to a question.
How Can I Access SIRI on My iPhone?
To activate SIRI, you must first go to your phone’s settings by clicking the “Settings” app from the home screen (Image 1)
(Image 1) Click on the settings menu, which appears as a gear.
(Image 2) From the settings menu, click “General.”
(Image 3) From the General settings menu, press the “SIRI” option.
After clicking “SIRI” there will be a switch to enable the SIRI software. This switch will be a gray colored oval with a white circle on the left side (Image 4). To turn SIRI on, slide the white circle to the right.
An “enable SIRI” confirmation will appear at the bottom of the screen, click that option to finish turning your SIRI software (Image 5).
The oval will then turn green, indicating that SIRI has been turned on (Image 6).
(Image 6) You may then exit out of your settings by clicking the home button.
To use SIRI, hold down the home button for about 1-2 seconds to activate, and then state which action you would like SIRI to complete. For example: Send a text to Barbara, or Call James.
Congratulations, you can now use SIRI any time you like.
