City of Charlotte HNS: Introduction to Forming a Neighborhood Organization

A strong sense of community is part of what makes Charlotte a winning city. Organizing your community including neighbors and/or businesses within your area may feel a daunting task, however staff are here to guide you. The City’s Housing & Neighborhood Services department has teamed up with Next Stage Consulting, LLC to review the benefits of forming a neighborhood-based organization and to coach community members through recommended building blocks for forging a strong organizational foundation. This session will explore topics including:
· Leadership structure
· Committee work
· Decision making
· Written procedures
· Pro’s and cons of forming a 501c3
· Empowering the community to take action
· Registering with the City
With the basics of neighborhood formation under their belt, attendees are invited to join the City at QC3 (Queen City Crash Course) to dive deeper into tools and resources available to help them be successful.
Refreshments and free parking are provided. A parking map will be provided in advance of the event to those who have pre-registered.
