SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT AFFORDABLE BROADBAND AT THE
#DIGITALCHARLOTTE COMMUNITY IMPACT EVENT ON JAN. 23
#DigitalCharlotte and the City of Charlotte’s Digital Inclusion Steering Team are hosting a Community Impact Event on Saturday, Jan. 23, and all citizens are invited to take part.
Digital Inclusion is focused on connecting Charlotte residents with online resources, and this event will bring community, neighborhood, and faith leaders together with organizations working to ensure everyone has affordable broadband access in the home — as well as the resources to take advantage of it. Project leaders will also share the initial results of a survey that begins to provide an inventory guide to Charlotte digital and online resources.
Residents will learn more about the latest work of #DigitalCharlotte and the Digital Inclusion Steering Team, and have an opportunity to engage firsthand with community partners offering access, device, and training/education resources that are empowering community through technology.
Residents will also be able to experience gigabit speeds and see firsthand the kinds of things they are able to do with new gigabit service in Charlotte.
Organizations providing free or reduced-cost devices, access, or training/educational resources aimed at closing the digital divide, and which are interested in becoming a part of the event expo space, should contact Bruce Clark, Charlotte’s digital inclusion program manager. Participants or organizers with additional questions can contact Bruce using the information listed below. Available space is limited but free and is first-come, first-serve.
